These German win on taste, but without question Camden Hells is the best of our British lager and brewed under license rubbish. What you've got to remember German beers are pretty expensive and you can get some good deals on Camden Hells now and then so better to stretch your cash rather than spend of fortune on a Hofbrau.... Or jusy get Pilsner Urqell and forget about comparisons! I'm a heavy critic of our British lagers but Camden Hells have nailed something that it claims to be a pils/hells. Shame its pretty crappy on head retention but could make the same claim againat many, Budvar , Paulaner etc

couldn't agree more...i recently bought a 4 pack of San Miguel from Tesco because (it was on 'offer') and instantly regretted it after opening the first tin and taking a sip... absolutely disgusting 💩

I went to Rome a few months ago and had exactly the same experience, I've been buying Peroni Red by the case in Majestic since then.

Ah Ushers! Ushers Best Bitter was my very first Cask Ale! It was my introduction to Real Ale way back in Neath, in 1979. It was a very good Bitter Ale, good balance, dry finish makes you want more. Before this ale I had to be content with Trophy Bitter, Trumans, Ansels, Double Diamond, Worthing E. But the worse one was ALBRITE, it was bland and weak.

Great review Buddy and I am actually traveling down from Belfast to McGregor's restaurant the Forge on the 5th of August for my 66th Birthday. I also found this in Asda so happy days. Keep the great reviews coming.

It's lager, it all has to be ice cold to hide the taste. The only lager-beer I don't mind is red label Peroni (not Nastro Azzurro) I don't think it's brewed in the UK so hardly anywhere sells it.

M&S know their customers and how to get men into the store with their partners . I always pick up some beer and wine and end up spending much more than my wife ever would. Their beer range has some real treats hidden in plain sight.

I've had this beer & find it odd that it's a 'premium' pilsner @ just 4.5% Surely, it should be nearer 5%? Also, I open beers on my beer mat (similar to the Evan Evans one on simon's bar). After one too many spillages of a sticky stout, I wanted to protect my table

Sigh, Poe foretold this brewery's fate, Fall of the Public House of Usher. Nevermore. Have to admit I love these blasts to the past, I remember Ind Coope and Usher. I remember those mini milk bottles for the Theakstons too. Just don't do Double Diamond. It doesn't work wonders. Now or then.

I remember drinking Victoria 20 years ago near Malaga, and only found a few bars that served it, it was exceptional back then, and to my delight i found in Lidl and it never disappointed, excellent Spanish larger ….also for sale in B&M and only £1.85 a bottle, grab them while you can

Just don't buy UK brewed lager. Imported German / Check is fine. Budvar is always check, Paulaner, Erdinger etc. Madei isnt even a real Spanish beer, its totally mafe up.... Otherwise sick to uk ale

Hi Simon, I don't know if it's been suggested before but I'd like to see a few reviews of alcohol free beers or 0.5% hazy IPAs. More interesting would be, for example northern monk ipa 0% up against the alcohol northern monk ipa. I feel some of these zeros will stack quite well against their alcoholic cousins. Thanks, great channel.

I’ve drunk loads of Star, both here and in the Czech Rep, and I’m damned if I can tell the difference. Mind you, I’ve never done a side-by-side test. Star is nice, but I prefer Urquell if I have to be honest

City Arms (mentioned by Paul) is a great great pub. Fantastic beer and a proper traditional pub feel to the place. Also Cafe Beermoth is fantastic as well.
